Lumdeck and static hosting for HTML decks
Compare a general website deployment with presentation-specific sharing and analytics.
GitHub Pages, Netlify and Vercel can serve web content. Choose general hosting when you want to manage a website deployment; consider Lumdeck when your main job is uploading finished decks and managing audience links, versions and per-slide reading.
What you manage
| Concern | General static hosting | Lumdeck |
|---|---|---|
| Deployment | Build output and hosting configuration | Upload HTML or ZIP through the browser, API or MCP |
| Application behavior | Your site code and chosen hosting features | Deck code runs within Lumdeck's sandbox and resource policy |
| Deck-specific access | Select or build the controls your workflow requires | Share links with protection, expiry, view limits and revoke |
| Per-slide reading | Integrate a suitable measurement system | Supported slide detection and the deck protocol |
| Versions | Provider deployment workflow | Presentation versions and current-version links, with plan retention |
This is not a claim that general hosts lack authentication or analytics. Their features and plan requirements differ. Check the exact provider offer, particularly for private deployments, access protection and commercial-use conditions.
When a general host fits better
A standalone application that needs unrestricted routing, backend services or custom infrastructure may need a general hosting platform. Lumdeck accepts validated static bundles and applies its own file, network and size restrictions. It does not run your server.
When Lumdeck fits
Use it for a finished HTML deck that needs a stable share link, a presentation viewer, optional live follow-along and a workspace library. Keep source files and backups in your own development workflow.
